Hand painted ornaments for Christmas
The Christmas card
I always reflect on the year and find something new approaching the holiday season. I started the season by deciding what painting to use on our Christmas card this year. I thought it was fitting to use a painting that depicted where we would be over the holidays. I was hoping for snow when visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - and we have not been disappointed. This painting titled Birch Trio in July depicts 3 birch trees found at the marina near my brother and sister-in-law's home in Skanne, MI. The marina, situated on Huron Bay perfectly protects the boats moored there. You can see this watercolor at The Landing, our local gift gallery in Emily, MN.
Hand-painted ornaments chase away the blues
Once I was able to get the Christmas cards ordered, I decided to lift my spirits by creating ornaments for Christmas that are hand-painted. I wanted to depict scenes that we see during the summer and winter months at the lake. As I sat in my studio back in the Twin Cities, I had to figure out what ribbon would work best and how to package these when sold individually. After several hours of sourcing envelopes, I was able to find the perfect combination. These unique hand-painted Christmas ornaments have a special message on the back of each one. Customized to a client's lake name or with familiar up north sayings make for perfect gifts. While at The Landing one weekend, one of our clients requested customization of this unique ornament for her children. I was thrilled when she came to pick up her 8 customized ornaments and was overjoyed with how they turned out.
